Building a new job family framework and career system is complex and will take time, patience, and engagement from the entire Georgia Tech community. Based on employee feedback, we are refreshing our communication approach to ensure employees are aware and well-informed throughout this transformation. What We Accomplished in Wave 1
Feb. 20 | Job Families News
By the end of February, all Wave 1 employees will have updated job titles, as needed. The Job Family implementation team is reviewing lessons and accomplishments from this first wave of the Job Families rollout. Preparation for Wave 2 is underway. Employees are encouraged to continue learning via online resources, discuss questions and concerns with supervisors, and be reflective about their own career goals.

HR Partners are completing transactions, some decisions are still being finalized and the crosswalk is being updated in real-time so check back if you don’t see your role posted now, it will likely be posted soon.

Job Families Transactions Begin

As decisions for Wave 1 employees have been finalized, with some positions needing further review. HR Partners will continue to work closely with supervisors and unit leadership to determine what will happen for individuals who cannot be moved into a new job title at this time.
HR Partners have begun keying in job code transactions that will continue through the month of January 2025.
Additionally, the position crosswalk with job profiles are now live on the Job Families main website, and working title guidelines are available.

Deadlines Approach for Final Decisions

Wave 1 executive sponsors are working to review and approve the job titles in their respective job families no later than, Dec. 11. HR Partners are also working with leadership in their units to determine which staff are ready to move to updated titles (crosswalked) by Dec. 13.

We have adjusted our plans to keep stakeholders more informed, allow time for additional review and developed an approach to address any outliers. Although the effective date for Wave 1 is Dec. 1, changes will not be keyed in OneUSG Connect until mid-January.
On Dec. 3, HR Partners, people leaders, and Wave 1 employees received emails with instructions, progress updates and what to expect over the next several weeks. Those messages are listed below.

Dec. 18 – Crosswalk and job profiles published
Dec. 16 to Jan. 17, 2025 – Wave 1 job code transactions occur
Jan. 13, 2025 – Wave 1 reclassification transactions can begin
