Coming Soon: Updated Telework Request Process
Submitted telework requests must be approved by the requestor’s: Form submissions are not required for employees following their college/school/unit/department’s standard in-person schedule. Employees seeking a hybrid or fully remote teleworking agreement for a limited, specific circumstance that meets the Insititute’s business need and assigned job duties may work with their supervisor to determine if an agreement should be submitted. On March 31, all employees received a high-level email signaling the transition to in-person work as the standard for staff by Aug. 1. Telework will be available for limited, specific circumstances and only approved when there is alignment with Institute business needs and assigned job duties.
Cross-functional working groups, including staff from Georgia Tech Human Resources, Information Technology, Parking and Transportation Services, Infrastructure and Sustainability, Staff Council, and more, have been working to prepare for the transition. With feedback gathered from multiple engagement opportunities across the Institute over the past several weeks, system changes, policy revisions, job postings, and position eligibility are underway
What will happen between now and Aug. 1?
On-campus, in-person work will become the standard beginning with the 2025–26 academic year. All staff members are expected to follow their college/school/unit/dept’s standard work schedule. Faculty will continue to maintain their on-campus presence consistent with fulfilling their instructional, scholarly, service, and student mentorship duties.
Telework agreements which were approved in the current system will be frozen on April 30. However, the existing approved agreements may remain in effect through July 31.
Starting May 1 (or soon thereafter), a new telework request system will launch in ServiceNow (or JIRA for GTRI).
