Learning and Development department shares summer courses.

Tech’s newly formed learning and development unit highlights opportunities to learn more this summer.

As the saying goes: School is out for summer! However, if faculty and staff want to learn more during these quiet months on campus, the Learning and Development unit within Georgia Tech Human Resources (GTHR) has some options to share.

“We would like to generate more awareness and enrollment in the programs and courses offered,” said Diamond Ford, senior director of Employee Experience.

Over the past year, GTHR welcomed four learning and development teams into their department. These teams joined together to become a single cohesive resource for campus within a department that can enhance the employee experience of all employees.

The following teams are part of the new learning and development unit within GTHR .

  • Organizational Development – GTRI
  • Workplace Learning and Professional Development
  • Administrative Services Center Training Team
  • Institute Diversity Equity and Inclusion Training Team

This creates improved and more connected learning experiences for faculty and staff. The Learning and Development unit is strategically aligned to help the people of Tech self-actualize through learning and development opportunities.

“We’re hoping the Tech community will lean into the courses this summer and feel more empowered and informed for the fall semester,” said Ford.

This move to combine teams was a strategic decision to strengthen their previously dispersed work.

It should also eliminate inefficiencies, inconsistencies in learning and redundancy in spending on tools and resources.
