Plan Ahead: Flexible Work Arrangements Encouraged Due to Concert Traffic
On Friday, Oct. 3, Chris Brown’s concert at Bobby Dodd will significantly disrupt traffic and parking on campus. Faculty and staff should consider adjusting schedules to minimize delays from road and parking lot closures.
Beginning at 3 p.m. on Friday, roads surrounding the stadium, including North Avenue, Tech Parkway, and Techwood Drive will close. Additionally, several parking decks will be used to accommodate an anticipated 44,000 concertgoers.
With supervisor approval, modified work schedules can help staff avoid extraordinarly traffic on Friday eveninng.
Alternative working arrangements include:
- Compressed Workweeks
A compressed workweek is a standard workweek that is reduced to fewer than five days. Employees make up the full number of hours per week by working longer hours on fewer days. For example, working four 10-hour shifts instead of five 8-hour shifts. A compressed workweek is not appropriate for all positions, in all settings, or for all employees. - Early Dismissal and Remote Work
When it is not a disruption to the business, some faculty and staff may be able to leave campus early and continue their workday from a remote location.
Working from a location off-site for an entire workday is also an option, with prior discussion between supervisors and employees, and with supervisor approval. - Planned Absences
Taking time off is an option as long as the time is submitted and approved in OneUSG Connect.
