Employee Resource Group Welcomes Neurodiverse
Georgia Tech’s Web of Brilliance employee resource group is expanding to capture the full range of thinking and engaging styles of its members.
Web of Brilliance is one of six employee resource groups, or ERGs, that aim to build a welcoming community that ensures employees feel a sense of belonging at Tech.
The Web of Brilliance ERG began as an employee community of introverts. However, over time, it became clear that there was nuance within the WOB community, and that the interests of Georgia Tech’s neurodiverse employees should be fully represented, said Jennifer Attilus-August, Belonging program manager.
Web of Brilliance is evolving to better serve our community by centering neurodiversity, Attilus-August said. “Our goal is to create a space where neurodiverse employees can celebrate their strengths, access meaningful support, and foster allyship in a way that acknowledges the full spectrum of cognitive diversity.”
Each ERG has a different focus, but all foster community around shared values, interests, and identities. The associations offer a space where Georgia Tech faculty and staff can find belonging and be able to more closely relate to their colleagues in the group. They also serve as an educational and professional tool, helping employees network, socialize, and celebrate the professional, social, and cultural contributions of group members.
