As the year comes to a close, many of us reflect on personal and professional goals and whether we realized the resolutions and objectives we set for ourselves many months ago.

At Georgia Tech, staff have the advantage of using a digitized system to help track annual career goals. In fact, Dec. 1, 2023 – Jan. 31, 2024 is the annual self-assessment period when staff should log in to review the goals they set earlier in the year and prepare for evaluations conducted by their supervisors.

Georgia Tech Human Resources (GTHR) transformed the performance management process at the Institute when they launched Performance Management @Tech, a module in ServiceNow that allows staff and their supervisors to track goals, monitor progress, and submit evaluations in one place. That move transitioned the Institute away from manual, paper, and DocuSign submissions to a more agile, digital platform.

So far, employees have used the system to submit goals for 2023, supervisors have been able to track six-month probationary period evaluations for new hires, and, beginning Dec. 1, staff can complete their self-assessments.

The self-assessment allows staff to review their own performance and outline their accomplishments, which helps supervisors facilitate the annual evaluation.

The upcoming phases of the performance cycle at Tech are:

  • Dec. 1, 2023 – Jan. 31, 2024 | 2023 Self-Assessment Period
  • Feb. 1 – April 5 | 2023 Annual Performance Evaluations
  • March 1 – April 30 | 2024 Goal Setting

Staff and supervisors can attend live demonstrations of the module at one of the following sessions:

Performance Management @Tech supports the Institute’s goal of supporting staff development and performance. It also brings us closer to realizing our ability to leverage performance in a more meaningful way as we consider the reward phase of the performance management process.
